This isn't one sided {San Diego Family photographer}

Each time I am invited to photograph your family, child, newborn or four legged family member I am invited into your lives. I get to know a little about all of you, who you are, where you are coming from and for some of you, where you want to be going. I frequently get to meet several generations of your family and I love every minute of it!

So, I thought I would start doing a post every now and then letting you into my life, and getting to know a little about the person behind the camera. After all, it is only fair, right? You invite me into your life, please, welcome to mine!

I can't think of a better, more appropriate place than to introduce you to my Son, (Wes)ley. Which, when I say that there isn't any reason to clean up your house, or get out of your yoga pants for a newborn session, he is my reason for understanding, and the reason why I don't think twice about scooting the pile of dirty burp cloths to the side and continuing on my merry way. I have been there, and to be perfectly honest, might still be there...a little bit.

Have you met Wes?
This is our 7  month old hunk of burning love. In the past week or so, he has been starting to squint his eyes when he is really happy. I live for the eye squint. This eye squint is all I can talk about. I adore the eye squint. I am sure that last statement shocks you.

Every single cheesy cliche about how wonderful babies are, you can just go ahead and insert here, because he is the light of our life, our world changed when he entered our lives, so on and so forth.

Simply put, he is so very loved by my husband and I.

A Perfect Model {San Diego Child Photography}

How do you pick a favorite photo to post when the subject is perfect in every picture?  I guess when you have been a model for the majority of your life, you pick up a few tricks.

Miss J, you are making this post hard on me!

Story Telling with Miss I {San Diego Child Photography}

I am not going to lie, I love editing photos. I love seeing the shots that most people will never see, and I love seeing how the shots progress as the session moves forward.

Case in point, Miss I.

Going through her photos while editing literally had me laughing out loud. In person she is a hilariously sweet baby, captured in pictures she looks like the world's greatest story teller with impressive gesticulation. You can tell that when she grows up, and starts talking (well, talking so the rest of the world can understand) people are going to listen, and how could they not?

Oh yeah, she is,just. that. cute.

Communication isn't just about speech though. Look at those eyes. She has things to "say".

And one just because.

Old Soul {San Diego Child Photography}

World, meet Cora!

Cora is beautiful, sweet, loving, and just a couple days younger than my own son. Cora's mother is beautiful, sweet, loving and an amazing example of what a mother should be.  She was also kind enough to let me test out my new headband on Cora for this shoot.  Thanks!

I won't write much in the blog post, because I am quite certain that your heart is busy melting and you won't read a bit of what I write anyways. Trust me, I understand.

So....heart....melt away.

In this case, I do believe that Cora's pictures are worth more than any words I could write!

Welcome to the world {San Diego Newborn Photographer}

Welcome to the world Riley!

I recently had the honor of capturing love in it's newest form, a brand new, 7 day old baby and his mother who couldn't have been more attentive and caring.

Another military family, who, due to the sacrifice they make for our country, required Riley's father to be deployed for much of the pregnancy and the birth of his son. I was so thankful that Vanessa welcomed me into her home and life.

World, meet Riley!
Does it get any sweeter than this folks? I don't think so.

A lot of parents ask when the best time to have newborn photos done is, and my answer is around the 6-8 day mark. It doesn't matter when you have the pictures taken, but the 6-8 day mark allows (usually, unless you are like Riley and sleep through the night! Yeah, I heard that gasp from 99% of you parents) for a drowsy newborn who is easily lulled into sleep with cuddles, white noise and warmth, they also don't mind being posed while they are asleep, which makes for great newborn shots!

He might have had other ideas towards the end of our session, but it happens! Newborns take love and patience.

Life is rough as a newborn, huh?

And a full head of lush, thick hair (and I can't get over that cute little nose).

Welcome to the world Riley, you beautiful man you.

Work it mama - {San Diego Maternity Photographer}

Meet Morgan

She is a beautiful childhood friend of mine who got in touch to do some maternity photos.  Can you believe that she is 32 weeks pregnant?  I couldn't and still can't!  She makes being late in her third trimester look so graceful and easy.

Morgan and I headed out to the Oceanside Pier for sunset. It is such a quintessential San Diego sunset location we had to compete with 30 other photographers for shooting space, but we made it work, and had a lot of fun doing it.

Her husband is in the Marines and has been deployed,  which has subsequently meant that he will have missed her growing baby bump, Morgan wanted to make sure that Jim was included, and since he couldn't physically be there, Morgan brought along some of his gear.

We started under the pier just before the sun started to go down to capture some of the beautiful San Diego sunshine that this city is known for and cash in on the beautiful textures of the old wood pier.

After exhausting the natural beauty of pregnancy and the pier I was able to talk my ever willing friend into trying some shots up top! Thank goodness she was game, being adventurous in photography, sometimes works and is sometimes a total and complete flop. This time, it was a beautiful success.

Well folks, there you have it! Some snapshots from our beautiful maternity session together. If you are interested in booking a session with Ella Sherman Photography, please, get in touch!

Happy dog! - {San Diego Pet Photography}

Ella Sherman Photography is all about capturing the love between family and loved ones. My thoughts on what makes a family is pretty simple. Family is family is family is family. It doesn't matter who you love, it is just nice to have someone who is always there for you, through thick and thin. That is why a focus has been put on our four legged loves. So many times family photography focuses on the traditional nuclear family, a mother a father and children but our world is comprised of so much more variety than that.

Through expanding into pet photography and capturing the love of families,  I have had the pleasure of meeting some truly exceptional individuals with some beautiful furry family members.

Meet Copper and Weiner!
Hailing from the east coast, at 8 months old they have both kissed and cuddled into their parent's hearts. Look at these faces, how could they not?

Yet another amazing duo!
Rain and Isabella both have unique stories.  Their mom, Chelsea, is a wonderful mom indeed. She is studying to be a dog trainer and I can't imagine a better one!  When getting in touch with Ella Sherman Photography, Chelsea shared with me that Rain, is Autistic and Isabella needed a close up because she is training to become a therapy dog.  Can you imagine the patience of their mom? To top it all off, Chelsea's husband, JJ, is deploying.

Angel wings? This family has them.
